Welcome to my Website ! My name is Paul Hackett and I have been involved with Digiscoping for over 20 years.
When I first started, everything I tried was completely experimental. There were no guidelines or manuals. I just had to learn as I went along – Initially I had many failures but gradually, through trial and error I pieced together some consistently winning techniques. Now, many years later, I hope to share the benefits of my learnings with you.
Back before the Milenium, (or state actual year) my humble starting kit was a Hi 8 mm camcorder attached to a spotting scope with a home-made adapter. Looking back, it was amazing I got the results I did. Wind forward and it’s a very different world now. Since the outset I’ve tried multiple formats for Digiscoping including camcorders, compact cameras, DSLRs, Micro Four Thirds and, most recently, Smartphones. At every stage and with every format I painstaking learned how to get the most from them. I learned the ground rules through trial and error and gradually my experience grew. I’m lucky enough to have had the pleasure of working with some of the biggest Optics Companies in the world too, including Carl Zeiss and Kowa (for over 10 years) and I think it is fair to say my experience now covers virtually all aspects of this very addictive hobby. I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you.
